Call for Papers:
Christopher Newport University's
Sixth Annual Paideia Conference
For Undergraduate and
Graduate Research
Paideia (pi-DAY-uh): the classical Greek education
of liberal
learning, which was believed to develop
the intellectual, moral, and aesthetic
capacities.
Christopher Newport University's Undergraduate and Graduate Research Council (UGRC)
(http://www.cnu.edu/research) invites all students to submit their research for presentation at the University's annual
Paideia conference. Proposals are due on Friday, 23 March 2007 and must be approved by a faculty member. A faculty
member may sponsor up to ten presentations and is expected to work closely with the student(s) in order to ensure the
quality of the presentation.
The Paideia Conference will take place on Saturday, 21 April 2007 at Christopher Newport University. The top five
outstanding student papers ( as judged by the UGRC) will be published in the inaugural issue of CNU's online journal of
student research, The Cupola, and each author will receive a $250.00 award. Go the UGRC's web page
(http://\www.cnu.edu/research/instructions.html) to access the Paideia Online Submission Form and for details on how to
submit your work for consideration in The Cupola.
All students -- even those not presenting -- are encouraged to attend the conference in support
of their peers. See
http:\\www.cnu.edu\research\paideia.htm for the proceedings of previous
years' conferences.
