Graduate Research and Scholarship
Call for Papers

Paideia (pi-DAY-uh): the classical Greek education of liberal learning, which
was believed to develop the intellectual, moral and aesthetic capacities.
Christopher Newport University's Undergraduate and Graduate Research Council
(http://ww.cnu.edu/research) invites undergraduate and graduate students to submit abstracts
for its annual conference dedicated to fostering undergraduate and graduate research and scholarship in all
disciplines and institutions. See www.cnu.edu/research/paideia.htm for the proceedings of previous years'
conferences.
SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE BY 27 MARCH 2006 and all submissions must be approved by a faculty member at
an accredited college or university. A faculty member can sponsor up to ten presentations. The faculty
sponsor is expected to work closely with the student(s), in order to ensure the quality of the presentation.
The conference takes place on Saturday 22 April 2006 at Christopher Newport University. Students not
submitting papers are also encouraged to attend.
How to Submit Your Research:
Submissions must include the following information, and research to be presented must have been undertaken
while the author was an undergraduate or graduate student (even if the author has subsequently graduated).
Submissions that do not include this information may not be reviewed.
- Name of Student Presenter
- Contact Information (email and phone number) for Student Presenter
- Title of Presentation
- Names of Collaborators (if any)
- Name of Faculty Sponsor (not necessary to be from CNU)
- Contact Information (email and phone number) for Faculty Sponsor
- Preferred presentation format (ie, poster or oral)
- Equipment needed for presentation (overhead projector, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Abstract (no more than 300 words). See www.cnu.edu/research/instructions.html for guidelines.
(Abstracts which do not conform to these guidelines will not get accepted for presentation.)
